ACRONYMISH: The New Language That You Know OIYAC*!!!

WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG???...Whats with the lol, IMHO, BTW, SEO, LMFAO etc???....I see it as an encumbrance to reading---a stumbling block that only a few understand and then they may not know it!!

I see it as an antagonistic attitude, i.e.: IMHO translates to "in my humble opinion"; WHATS SO HUMBLE ABOUT PUTTING THAT STATEMENT IN AN ACRONYM??? It's the antithesis of "humble" in my opinion. (Go look up antithesis if you don't know the word!)

I just read a featured post that was all about how important it is to get your videos in the right place to get the right attention for our businesses. In that post there was an acronym, SERP that even though I didn't know exactly, I kind of picked up on what it meant, because I know what SEO means---But someone who read the post did NOT get it and the very first comment of that post was: "What the heck does SERP mean???" (it means "search engine results page"...YSSOG!)

The reader could not even get past the acronym SERP to make a proper comment about the content of the post!

Was this the intent of the blogger? I don't think so but this is what is happening when they start writing with these acronyms as if they are universally understood!

Am I the only one who still does not know what lol really stands for? Or, LAMO for that matter? Maybe I need to go study these terms to make sure I know?  WAWOT*!!

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO JUST USING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE??

 *BTW: OIYAC is "Only If You Are Cool"!   Do you know what WAWOT means???...or YSSOG?
